NOTICE OF ELECTION
The Oklahoma Scenic Rivers Commission (OSRC) will conduct an election on Tuesday, December 6, 2005, for 2 (two) At-Large Representatives (Adair, Cherokee and Delaware County).
Eligibility of candidates
To be considered eligible to file as a candidate, interested individuals must be an Oklahoma registered voter and shall reside or own property within Adair, Cherokee and/or Delaware County, Oklahoma.
Filing period and procedures
The filing period for candidates will be Monday, November 14 through Wednesday, November 16, 2005. Filing hours are daily from 8:30am through 5:00pm. Interested individuals desiring to be a candidate shall file a notarized Declaration of Candidacy form at the OSRC Headquarters located two (2) miles northeast of Tahlequah, OK on State Highway “Scenic” #10 North.
Notice of candidates
The OSRC will provide public notice of the candidates in newspapers with general circulation within Adair, Cherokee and Delaware Counties once a week for two weeks prior to the election date.
Place of election
County polling locations for the 2005 OSRC Election are:
Adair County - Skelly School Annex (located east of, adjacent to the main Skelly School Complex, Chewey Road, Chewey, Oklahoma)
Cherokee County - OSRC Headquarters (located two (2) miles northeast of Tahlequah, Oklahoma on State Highway “Scenic” #10 North)
Delaware County - Kansas Town Hall (located 1 block south of Harvest House Restaurant on old US Highway “Scenic” #412 west of the old US #412 and SH #10 Junction, Kansas, Oklahoma)
The polling locations will be open to qualified voters to cast ballots from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2005.
Qualification and procedure to register or update registration for voting in election
In order to qualify to vote in the OSRC Election all persons shall:
(1) Be an Oklahoma registered voter.
(2) Shall reside, own real property, or own permanent residential structure within six hundred sixty (660) feet of the Illinois River, above its confluence with the Barren Fork Creek located in Adair, Cherokee and Delaware Counties, or Flint Creek located within Delaware County or Barren Fork Creek within Cherokee County.
(3) Be previously registered as a voter with the OSRC from the December 2, 2003 Oklahoma Scenic Rivers Commission General Election or by registering as a new voter and/or updating registration to meet eligibility requirements with the OSRC by the close of business on Thursday, November 10, 2005. Persons must meet all of the eligibility requirements prior to registering.
(4) Sign an affidavit attesting that they meet all requirements at the time of voter registration.
For new voters, voter registration applications are available by writing the Oklahoma Scenic Rivers Commission, Voter Registration, P.O. Box 292, Tahlequah, OK 74465-0292 or by completing a voter registration application in the presence of OSRC administrative staff at OSRC Headquarters located two (2) miles northeast of Tahlequah on State Highway “Scenic” #10 North.
Previously registered voters needing to update their voter registration should call the OSRC at (918) 456-3251.
Faxed Candidate and New Voter Registration Forms will not be accepted.
Absentee voting shall not be permitted in OSRC elections.
The election will be conducted pursuant to provisions of Title 82 Oklahoma Statutes, Section 1461 and Oklahoma Administrative Code, Scenic Rivers Commission Title 630: Chapter 3. Election Procedures.

This notice supersedes any previously announced information regarding the 2005 OSRC General Election. This notice will be published in newspapers of general circulation within Adair, Cherokee and Delaware Counties once a week during the last two weeks of October and the first two weeks of November.
