FLASH!

Thanks everyone for your calls and email messages to legislators.

We have learned that HB 1515, removing protective setbacks for important water resources, will not be heard this session. Because of your messages, and those of many other concerned Oklahomans, HB 1515 has been pigeonholed. HOWEVER, as long as the Legislature is in session, anything might happen!

Now, let's keep our eye on the State Senate and HB 1300...the bad bill that hobbles the Secretary of Environment so that factory hog and chicken farms can prosper.

Ed Brocksmith

A LIST OF EMAIL ADDRESS FOR STATE SENATORS AND HOUSE MEMBERS IS INCLUDED BELOW.

HB1300 by Rep. Jerry Ellis, D-Valliant, handcuffs the Oklahoma Secretary of the Environment by limiting lawsuits against water and air polluters.  It has passed the House and now goes to the State Senate

Rep. Ellis is fronting this bill for the Oklahoma Farm Bureau.

HB 1300 Limits to the point of absurdity the power of the Secretary of the Environment to bring a lawsuit against agricultural nonpoint source polluters - (CAFOs, AFOs, LMFOs).

The Conservation Commission worked up a fiscal impact statement for the bill and found that it would cost between $20 million and $120 million because of all the watershed study and planning involved.

Dear Senator ,

Please vote NO on HB 1300.

HB 1300 by Rep. Ellis will not help Oklahoma protect its water resources.  I urge you to vote NO on HB 1300 and to not place unnecessary restraints on the Oklahoma Secretary of Environment.  This legislation could drastically slow prosecution of water and air polluters and could jeopardize the quality and safety of our streams and lakes.

Thank you,

(name and hometown)
