SPRINGDALE
— Each year roughly 238 million chickens are raised and slaughtered in
Benton and Washington counties leaving behind as much as 572 million
pounds of litter — deemed trash by some and treasure by others.
That's
enough litter to fill 12,435 semi-trailer trucks lined up from Rogers
to Fort Smith and back.
